PAIA

Access to information.

The Promotion of Access to Information Act provides a process for requesting records held by public and private bodies when the statutory requirements are met. HSC should maintain and publish the final approved PAIA manual and Information Officer details applicable to its legal entity.

How to submit a request

Use the HSC Rights Request form and select PAIA Access. HSC may require identity verification, the prescribed request details and any fees permitted by law before records are released.

Assessment

Requests are assessed against PAIA, POPIA, confidentiality, privilege, third-party rights and any lawful grounds for refusal or severance. A decision and any available complaint/review route should be communicated to the requester.

Information Regulator

If a requester is dissatisfied with a PAIA/POPIA outcome, the applicable statutory complaint process with South Africa's Information Regulator may be available.

Governance action: the HSC Compliance module includes a PAIA/rights-request register and a policy register for the approved PAIA manual. This webpage is not a substitute for the final entity-specific PAIA manual.
